Going home late? 7 safety steps for women in Kalaburagi
Most rides at night are ordinary: a shift ending at the hospital, a late class, a train that came in after dark. These seven habits take less than a minute and make every ride safer, whichever app or auto you use.
1. Book, do not wave
A booked ride leaves a record: the driver’s name, photo and vehicle number, the route and the time. A vehicle stopped on the road has none of that. At the railway station and the bus stand, use the station line in the app instead of the first auto that stops.
2. Check the number plate before you get in
Match the plate with the one in the app, and look at the driver’s photo. If anything is different, do not get in. In the YatryOne app, tap “This is not my vehicle” and the office is told at once.
3. Your PIN is your key
The ride starts only when you tell the driver your 4-digit PIN. Say it only when you are sitting in the right vehicle. Never share it on the phone before the driver arrives.
4. Ask for a woman driver
Turn on “Prefer a woman driver” when you book. Only women drivers get the ride. If none is free, the app tells you, and you choose whether to wait or book any driver.
5. Tell someone, simply
Send a family member the vehicle number, the driver’s name and the time you left. A short message is enough. Call them when you reach.
6. Know the numbers
- 112 for any emergency (police, fire, ambulance)
- 1091 women helpline
- 108 ambulance
- 1098 child helpline
Save them in your phone today. The YatryOne app also keeps them, with nearby hospitals and police stations, on one emergency screen.
7. Know how to ask for help quietly
In the YatryOne app, hold the SOS button for 3 seconds, or use the silent alert, which makes no sound. The office sees your ride and where it is. If you are in danger, call 112 as well.
A safe ride is also a fair ride. If a driver asks for more money than the fare you agreed, you do not have to argue: pay the agreed fare and tap Report in the app. The office follows it up.
